KEVIN CARTER

In regards to our class discussion on Tuesday:

I was doing some research for a paper in another class, and came across this blog/analysis of Kevin Carter's famous photograph with the Sudanese child and the vulture. We had a really interesting discussion about it last class, and I figured you may want to check out this link --> http://www.faithfictionandflannery.com/2010/05/kevin-carter-ethics-in-front-of.html
I think these two sentences really summarize what we were discussing in class regarding the ethics of his photo. "Carter's photo looked at the bigger picture and served the greater plight of genocide in Sudan, but it did not serve the greater need of the child in front of him. The ethics of his profession outweighed the human response to the need of the person in front him."

UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE!

There is a function at the Anderson Gallery Friday night from (I think) 5 - 8pm.  As the exhibit features some of the Photography Seniors, I hope you all show your support.  But...the Concepts Sing-Along is still a go!

When?  Friday night at 630.
Where?  Rm. 209.
Food?  Sure hope so, but you'll have to bring it!  So bring it!

Bring prints and any other work you'd like to share, OK?

Alexa Meade

Alexa Meade is a photographer/painter that I discovered recently. She takes her models and paints them to look like paintings, along with their backgrounds (sometimes). These photos give a very strange feeling, as the only thing that is unpainted is the models' eyes and hair. Maybe you'll like her as much as I do!

Sabine Delcour

Hey, kids! Hope you're all having a good break. I happened upon this photographer, and I thought he had a very lovely approach to the landscape photo, so I thought I would share his work because why not.

You should check it out! If you want. Yeah.

New sentence (because I'd probably forget tomorrow)

I am studying the unique dynamic between mothers and their young daughters as they bond via activities they both enjoy doing together.
