Like we talked about earlier today, you should really look into the cycle of life. From the "grass" example you gave me, maybe focus more on the nature part of it. I was thinking somewhere you can see a stream or something since the shape of the flow of water changes slowly over a long period of time. Also with that, you could capture the moments that the body of water interacts with different people (young and old) if you still want to go with your idea of "culture".
