Tom Baril Brooklyn Bridge, 93

This is a photograph by Tom Baril named "Brooklyn Bridge", 93. I first came to his photographs when I interned for a gallery in Georgetown this past Summer. We had a love of his DC works at the gallery so as I was cleaning out the storage, I came across his works more.

This photograph seems very technical. It is symmetrical since the bridge was taken right in the between. Also the angle of the photograph makes it seem like the whole bridge is caged and makes me feel intimidated. Also it gives me a strange feeling because of the twin towers on the left side of the photograph. It makes me remember what had happen and make this photograph more memorable.

Tom Baril uses collodion wet-plate to print his photographs and it makes the photographs look so much more intense than on paper. Also, how he contrasted and made the clouds to show in the sky sucks in the viewer to the view point.
To me, this photograph reminds me of how the mood and the meaning of photographs can be changed by how the photograph is taken such as the angle and the exposure and the contrast of the photograph.
