Anoek Steketee is a documentary photographer that travels the globe taking photographs of different people he comes in contact with. Photographs from her series, Dream City, she visited different theme parks in the different countries such as the USA, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, Palestine, etc. She uses these amusement parks to show the similarity between different countries/cultures. Steketee sticks to political and sociological contexts in her photography.
One of the most interesting elements of Steketee's work is the ways he lights her frames. The lighting is clearly from an external source other than sunlight. Being able to see the light as more than sunlight gives off a futuristic feel to all of her photographs. She also utilizes the large format camera well.
