Katy Grannan-artist post

Katy Grannan is an American portrait artist. She shoots in harsh, usually noon sunlight and uses white wall of cities as her backdrops. In my last crit we talked about having tension when the environment/ "a catastrophe" for the model to experience. Looking at her images I get a sense of that tension mainly with the help of the harsh light and body position of the subjects. It makes it seem like its exposing their every flaw yet they still hold their head up.
