5 Artists- Kathryn Mayes



Dorothee Deiss
Emotional - Dorothee forms not only a connection with herself and the subject but also draws the viewer into the bond formed as well, creating in itself an emotionally moving photograph.

Doug Bubois
Content - Doug captures the personal connection between a family and even a community, that bond between those two people or group fully resonates in his images.

Laurel Nakadate
Intellectual - Laurel photographs distant relatives and forms a relationship with them through the act of the search and photographing of them.

Chris Killip
Formally speaking - Killip captures humanity through a time of change and degradation. His photographs contain the connection of the community depicted and the land that surrounds them.


Petra Wittmar
Complete opposite- Wittmar's images only capture the land and what we have built upon it, his work is without human beings and their connections to each other.
