This was an artist Jon Sheridan actually recommended I look into more. What Nikki S. Lee does in her work is fully infiltrating into social and cultural groups (punks, lesbians, schoolgirls, etc.) by completely faking her own identity. She adopts the mannerisms, clothing type and lingo of these different groups and mingles. Her photographs are just snapshot photos of her with these people, usually taken by someone in the group, a friends, or a complete stranger. A theme of identity is prevalent as she performs identity by picking up these different stereotypes to blend in with her surroundings.
