Please Look After Mom is a novel about a family whose mother has gone missing after the father accidentally leaves her at a stop of the subway train. The book continues the plot through the perspectives of the eldest daughter, the eldest brother, the father, and the mother herself (who tragically passes).
The book was powerful, mostly for me, in that it touched close to home in many ways, prompting me to write so many notes throughout the book (and shed a few tears). It explains aspects of personal lives in ways different from what I'm used to thinking. To view a person from the viewpoints of each family member or close friend is vital in discovering that cherished person. You learn to combine those descriptions to discover for yourself the secretly wonderful side of that person, and how easily that person can be taken for granted.
While working with a "stream of consciousness" and the VCU Library Catalogue, I discovered that there IS a book on possessiveness and how it affects us. "Stuff" by Daniel Miller also explores a part closely related to my project: belongings at home, in privacy, how it accommodates, and how they're of our own choosing.
