Video I mentioned during Shannon's presentation

I find this very difficult to watch, mostly because it's a window into this culture's more toxic behaviors and belief systems.  I'd love talk about it at some point this semester.  FYI, if you decide to watch it, please sit through the entire 14 or so minutes.  Don't decide midway that you get it or are bored with it!

  1. decided to watch the entire thing, all 14 minutes. Happy, and unhappy that I did. not gonna lie, I'd be scared in the same position- literally crowd of people with nothing better to do. Whoever threw water need to be punched. This is fucking horrible. "nobody want that", "is that a dude, what's up with that", so hard to watch. I like how God came into this subject, when it's just a person walking around. People can't sum what's happening up. It just shows that people are going CRAZY not being able to put the person in a "box" (boy, girl, prostitute, whatever. I think I may write my blog post about a TED talk I listened to yesterday about how our brains use short cuts to categorize people. I think I'm going to need to sit in silence and figure out what the hell is wrong with people.

  3. I didn't find it hard to watch at all. Despite the graphic nature, it is very interesting to watch. It is interesting because it is relatable. I can't speak for the rest of the world, but I think that most people that live in America know how vicious and evil people can be. I think that the filmmaker in the video Alli Coates ,who was initially filming the masked person, Signe Pierce, contributed to the startup of the mob. Just because one person is filming does that make it ok?
