Lexi Wilson-- weekly artist post

This past week, Scott pointed me to an artist by the name of Mitch Epstein. The project I'm most interests me that he created is his series called Family Business. This project is a film and photographic project that focuses on his father and the death of the family furniture business. In 1999, two 12 year old boys had broken into an apartment building owned by his father and set it on fire. The fire spread and destroyed a catholic church and a city block. The church filed a lawsuit against his father that would cost him 15 million dollars and had the potential to ruin his life. This prompted him to take pictures of his father and how the tragedy was affecting his life.
