Chloe Dewe Mathews is an England based photographer who was commissioned by the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford to do this project regarding WW1 soldier executions. Chloe traveled to known locations where the English, French and Belgian armies would hold their soldiers who were held and executed for cowardice and desertion. The series is appropriately named Shot At Dawn due to the time of the day that the executions were performed and when the photograph was taking, which was as accurate to time of the executions as possible.
This project is something I'm very interested in since the style of photography she shoots is something that I have been personally interested in shooting. I have yet to find this type of concept that provides beautiful pictures yet such a shocking backstory.
