Adam Landis - Weekly Artist Post

Alicia Martin Lopez

Alicia (b. 1982) is a Spanish artist currently living in New York. Recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship, she completed a master's degree in Fine Art: Computer Art from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 2013. Her work centers on oddities, abominations and monstrosities, sometimes working in series as they start from a humble infant and eventually grow through 3 or 4 paintings into a full sized... something. To Alicia, these creatures represent aspects of the human psychology, usually the darker corners of ourselves. They embody the mundane emotional baggage we all carry, but also the ability for us to thrive in spite of them. I really dig her work for its darker context and masterful execution.
