Lexi Wilson-- Weekly Artist Post

Philipp Lachenmann

In this post, I'm going to focus on Philipp Lachenmann's project called R-Series. In this project, Lachenmann took photos of sculptures and installations in museums and galleries focusing according to his natural nearsightedness (without glasses). The way these photographs portray space are interesting, because there is no separation between the figure and the ground. Since these images are non representational, when the viewer engages with them, it stimulates the configuration of certain forms, which trigger particular memories and emotions.
