Appropriation in this day and age is pretty much unavoidable whether we actively realize it or not. Teenagers especially, are bombarded with so many pictures throughout our day that they just become part of the way we see the world and therefore, how we function within it. Because we see so many images throughout the day we might not even realize that the art we are making is actually being appropriated from another source. This brings up the question: If we dont know we are appropriating does it still fully count? Personally I believe it is our job as artists to try and make ourselves more aware of what we are actually seeing and being exposed to so that when we come up with an idea it can be traced back to an origin.
