Over the weekend Brandon Victor Dixon, from the Broadway Musical Hamilton had some words for the vice presidential elect Mike Pence who was attending the musical that night. Dixon was respectful addressing Pence as sir and telling the audience to not boo after drawing attention to Pence's presence. Yet presidential elect Donald Trump asked the cast to apologize claiming they were being "disrespectful" to Mike Pence, despite Pence himself saying he didnt feel disrespected. Trump, the man who made a point of saying numerous disrespectful things while also refusing to apologize or even acknowledge that what he said could be disrespectful. Now he is attempting to attack a group of peoples right to free speech. People in particular who are mostly people of color and are also people of different sexual preferences and identities. People that Trump has alienated time and time again. Here they were simply expressing fears for the future in a non violent and thoughtful way and they were still met with opposition. As artists, do yall fear that our voices could be silenced by this new regime?
